Uranus Retrograde and the Tower Card: Breaking Patterns to Find Freedom

planet and moon
Moon of Uranus

When Uranus begins its retrograde cycle, the energy shifts from external disruption to inner transformation. While direct Uranus often brings sudden changes in the outer world, retrograde Uranus asks us to look at the patterns within ourselves that are ready to be broken.

This mirrors the lesson of the Tower card in the Tarot. At first glance, the Tower can seem frightening — lightning strikes, structures collapse, old systems fall apart. Yet at its core, the Tower is about liberation. It clears away false stability, making room for a more authentic way of being.

During this Uranus retrograde, it’s a good time to ask yourself:

  • Where am I clinging to routines or beliefs that no longer serve me?

  • Am I willing to release control so that something better can emerge?

  • What inner “lightning strike” is calling me toward freedom?

The Tower reminds us that collapse is not the end — it’s the gateway to renewal. Uranus retrograde can help us do the work gently, from the inside out, so when the planet turns direct again, we’re prepared to step forward into greater alignment.

If you pull the Tower card during this retrograde, consider it an invitation, not a punishment. Something within you is ready to shift. Let go of the illusion that you must hold it all together. Trust that in the rubble lies the foundation for your next, freer chapter.

Sometimes the greatest breakthroughs are born from breakdowns. This season, may Uranus guide you toward a Tower moment that feels more like liberation than loss.
